Cameron Clokie, a Toronto-based maxillofacial cum oral surgeon and scientist, gives a new direction to the regenerative medicine solutions. He is also an entrepreneur and founded Induce Biologics Inc., a leading regenerative medicine firm that is providing innovative musculoskeletal reconstruction solutions.
Dr. Clokie made a revolution in regenerative medicine when he started offering regenerative treatment solutions for broken bones, more than a decade back. It was in 2003, Dr. Clokie started experimenting with the new treatment method on eight patients who were facing skeletal jaw damages.
He used a protein named bone morphogenetic protein to seduce stem cells to grow into a bone tissue to effectively reset the jaw bone, similar to how bones grow in a new born baby.
Bloomberg has it that Dr. Clokie performed the entire treatment process at the Mount Sinai Hospital and Toronto General Hospital. The treatment procedure followed until those days was a long, painful process that includes collecting muscle, bone, and fat from one place and fill it where the bone is missing.
Also, the old treatment process took significant time of up to 19-hour surgery while the treatment method from Dr. Clokie only took less than five hours.
The regenerative treatment option also brought down the expenses associated with the treatment of broken bones. With more than a decade of significant results, the treatment option developed by Dr. Clokie is changing the lives of patients.
